TENX10

We are calling for play submissions for next year’s season of TENX10.

About TENX10

• Features 10 original plays, each up to 10 minutes long.
• Written by local amateur playwrights.
• Directed and performed by novice or experienced individuals.

Submission Conditions

Eligibility:

• Playwrights must be 18 or older.
• Only one play per playwright.

Play Length:

• Must be 6–10 minutes long.

Format Requirements:

• Typed on single-sided A4 pages.
• Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing.
• Plays must be unpublished.

Submission Requirements:

• Submit two PDF copies: one with and one without the playwright’s name.
• Include a completed Writer’s Permission Form.

Deadline:

• Submissions close at midnight on 31 December 2024.
• Late entries will not be accepted.

Writer’s Permission Form

Include:

• Title of play
• Writer’s name
• Agreement to the following:
  1. My play may be included in TENX10 2025.
  2. Bendigo Theatre Company may share my contact details with the play’s director.
  3. Permission for the play to be filmed, recorded, or referenced in promotional material.
  4. If I wish to make any significant changes to the play before performance, I must confirm these with both the Bendigo Theatre Company and the Director of my play.
  5. My play will not be altered without my permission.

Production Process

Director Recruitment:

• Expressions of interest for Directors (any level of experience) will be advertised in January, after the ten plays are selected.
• There will be a compulsory Director’s Workshop in late January or early February.

Casting Night:

• Held at Patricia Lyon Black Box Theatre on Tuesday 18 February 2025.
• Informal reading session; not an audition.
• Attendees complete an online form to express interest in roles.
• Directors will cast and notify actors within two days.

Rehearsals:

• Directors manage their own rehearsal schedules.
• There are two mandatory rehearsals at BTC on 4 and 18 March 2025.

Production Week:

• Begins with tech rehearsals on 29 March
• Includes lighting, audio, visual setup, and a full dress rehearsal.

Performance Dates:

• 3-6 April and 10-13 April 2025.
